Dario Tarantino

"The need that man has, especially in some phases of his life, is to get out of certain contexts and change things."

Salento is my motherland. My family has been in the stone carving business for ever.We shape stones, transformthem and fill them with a lifeof its own. This is whereI grew up and this is where I encountered Art - from studying it as a young boy to shape its forms with the help of clay.
This is the Art that nourishes me. And, through this Art, I have discovered the same mystery creating everything and guiding my hands today.

Today Dario, through his works, has shown that I was not wrong in encouraging him to live the adventure. His evolution is dazzling, his works stand out immediately. You hear the expression first of all, in the beautiful energy of the lines and movements, and lately even more for the use of color effects that reinforce the emotion of the gestural figures. "I have always experienced art as a way to express some concepts in an absolutely personal way".

His sculptures are typical figures in formation, of great vital force. They are born from water, which with the rite of earth and fire transforms them into terracotta. In each figure he renews the ancient tradition bringing it to the contemporary. Recently in his research he has also combined new materials such as steel. This element gives a certain flexibility to the figure as in a gymnastic exercise that lets the viewer perceive every musical note, as in a dance.
